Evanescence - Wash It All Away

to entertain, we reject it.
We erase it from our memories.
But the answer is always there.”

Surely, I am falling
into another bout of depression.
A sudden memory, a single spark
can bring back feelings long forgotten

I spoke to you last about 5 years ago
that single sentence seared into my brain
You saw through me.
Even 5 years before that.

And now I remember
like a scar unsealed
Losing myself from
the open wounds

In retrospect, maybe the pain
hurt more than I thought
