Novell is surely big lah, but majority of their staff in Singapore are in other departments other than Linux. Some more they got their own distro also… that’s why SuSE only got 1 guy to do sales lor… maybe by now they hired more liao, also possible.

i thought they had a “big” office or something?!!! (after all, they seem to be providing the meetup venue support for the sg linux meetup group. oh well… I know i was terribly disappointed the last time when i found out that red hat’s entire “presence” in sg was… ONE PERSON.)

But you know what? They might have a presence in Singapore, but the official department dealing with Linux only has about 2-3 people! I called them ok, and found out that there’s only 1 guy dealing with the entire sales operation… funny huh?

actually that is not true - Novell is around. And it’s got SuSE (admittedly not very “big” yet, i suppose, in asia, but who knows??? After Novell’s acquisition, the distro has gained some “branding” and recognition). Red Hat well… forget it.

And yeah, I’m a hardcore Free and Open Source advocate ok. Adri is an official Mac Evangelist cos she’s employed by Apple, but I can only be an unofficial Linux evangelist because there are no Linux companies operating in Singapore… well, at least none of the biggest distros.
