Blog Hiatus

I’ll be taking a break from this blog.

There is no way I can sustain regular blogging under my current workload, and I’m already suffering somewhat from blog fatigue already.

I’m at a stage in my life where I have a choice. If I continue blogging, I’m facing a real risk of flunking out of law school. At that point, no matter how hard I argue, how much effort I put into my writings and thoughts, it will all be for nothing. I mean, who’s going to listen to a washed-out law school dropout?

Or I could put this project on hold. Maybe drop by every now and then for minor updates. I will focus all my energies however in my studies. And then, maybe, when I have made something of myself through my own efforts, I can come back here and speak with certainty and confidence.

Certainty that people who read me won’t think I’m just another faux-intellectual blowhard. And the confidence that not only will I be speaking with the conviction of my beliefs, but also the respectibility of personal accomplishments, achievements that show not only can I talk the talk, but also walk the walk.

In the meantime, friends and foes alike, you are welcome to keep in touch with me at my email address:

shianux[at]gmail[dot]com

I’ll also leave the links to my favourite posts here, so that anyone interested can pop in and have a look.

Bye.

PS: Waliao, some people talk as if I’m dying or, at least, this blog is dying. No lah, I’m just concentrating on my studies for now. I’ll post every now and then… but you can be sure I’ll be arguing like an asshole here again when the school holidays come around. :D

The Singapore Dilemma: Why freedom of speech is so elusive
A Sense of Perspective: Why Lee Kuan Yew is not a despot
Prescription drugs, homophobia and Bad Economics: Why Andy Ho is Wrong
Singapore mainstream media still do not ?get? blogs
Open Letter to FACTS: The difference between the stockmarket and a casino
Black conservatism and race relations
Legalisation of drugs: A sane economic and social policy

I’ll miss you but then I have the luxury you’re robbing so many of today - I still get to talk about life with you whenever I want. You are so intelligent and passionate and i feel sad that you’re going to be quiet to the rest now. But I understand why and I understand that you need to fulfil this - for yourself and for your truth to make the kind of meaning you want it to…perhaps this is the greatest evidence of how much you care about this world.

Take care. I feel your pain; I have to be careful not to spend too much time blogging. Unfortunately it means that most of my posts are either work(science)-related or simply linkdumps. Maybe that could work out for you too?

Totally understand–I, too, really should get cracking on my dissertation instead of pottering around blogs…so all the best and looking forward to your return.

A late reply on this, but do come back whenever you get the opportunity. I’ve often forced myself to take a break, and I’m currently on a semi-hiatus, so don’t consider my pleadings too seriously. I’ll will miss the solidly libertarian bent of your blog - but S’pore does need more libertarian lawyers than it needs bloggers, so best of luck on the degree.
