And now for something completely different!

From Singapore Ink:

The opposition Singapore Democratic Alliance (SDA) has added its voice to the anti-casino chorus.

It opposes the setting up of a casino here on ?moral grounds.?

?The SDA believes that the casino, with all its vices, will lower and destroy the moral fabric which Singapore has built over the last 40 years,? it said in a statement yesterday.

In its statement yesterday, the SDA said there was ?no need to resort to shady activities to bring in the tourists?.

It also believes that the Government ?has made up its mind and will take the easy way out by allowing casinos in Singapore to solve the unemployment problem?.

But should the Government ?bulldoze? its way and allow casinos here, then Singaporeans should demand that it compensate them for any resulting social ills.

?The SDA calls upon the Government to use the income from the casinos to subsidise public health services and to give welfare and unemployment benefits to those workers who have lost their jobs,? it added.

?The Government should never monopolise all the casino revenues for itself.?

When I read this excerpt, I felt so excited and exuberant, I immediately burst into song!

Don?t take your vote
Away from me
Don?t you leave my party
In misery
If you go
Then I?ll be blue
Cause jumpin? on bandwagons is hard to do

Remember when
The last elections
And you voted me
In the GRC
Think of all
That we been through
Jumpin? on bandwagons is hard to do

They say that jumpin? on bandwagons
Is hard to do
Now I know, I know
That it?s true
Don?t say economic policies
Instead of jumpin? on bandwagons
I wish that we were swiggin’ beer flagons

I beg of you
Don?t say good-bye
Can?t you give our party
Another try
Come on baby
Lets start a new
Jumpin? on bandwagons is hard to do

I beg of you
Don?t say good-bye
Can?t you give our party
Another try
Come on baby
Lets start a new
Jumpin? on bandwagons is hard to do
Jumpin? on bandwagons is hard to do
