sigh. seems like the problem with some people like Dr John is they are so quick to uphold the digity of women that they don’t realise they are polemically opposing themselves to whatever view they are criticising.

perhaps unwittingly he’s fallen back on a stereotype. but definitely not an excuse - it’s irritating that in our postmodern (more like post-postmodern) age, there are still people (who claim to have reasonable intelligence) who make the mistake of subscribing to certain ~~selected~~ ‘given’s.

(Molly Meek: so agree with you that some places, some churches included, do the same. thank goodness the one i hop in now and then doesn’t. :D)

Sighz… Dr. john’s views are sadly quite common, say in ~~churches~~ some places where goody guys know that they must respect women, but unwittingly construct women in latently chauvinistic ways.

As Molly used to say, the most sinister chauvinists are the gentleman and the knight.

But we have to recognize that some women like to be viewed/treated the way Dr. John views/treats them. The most sinister anti-feminist is usually a complacent woman who valorizes the good chauvinist’s chivalry.

I observe that the level of stupidity in Singapore has risen again, since the last time I was around to lay the smackdown on morons and idiots. The war against ignorance and stupidity is a neverending one, and since that my primary purpose for blogging..

Singapore needs our own version of superhero ObviousMan(tm).. but with no capes!
