Fix you, fix me

I’ve listened to this song countless times, losing myself in the 5-part harmony without taking a closer look at the lyrics, until today.

A lovely little mouse told me that the lyrics reminded her of me.

When you try your best but you don’t succeed
When you get what you want but not what you need
When you feel so tired but you can’t sleep
Stuck in reverse

And the tears come streaming down your face
When you lose something you can’t replace
When you love someone but it goes to waste
Could it be worse?

Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you

And high up above or down below
When you’re too in love to let it go
But if you never try you’ll never know
Just what you’re worth

Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you

Tears stream down your face
when you lose something you cannot replace
Tears stream down your face
And I

Tears stream down your face
I promise you I will learn from my mistakes
Tears stream down your face
And I

Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you

Down my face.

Yeah, it’s a brilliant song. Lovely lyrics, fantastic tune. Not really similar, but reminds me of The Blower’s Daughter. The same haunting harmony, words. Breathtaking.

There was a time when i had the ENTIRE coldplay collection, including the ones which were pretty rare. And then my hard disk crashed and has to be reformatted! Oh the pain! I am still broken to this day….

Have you heard “Where is My Mind” by the Pixies? It’s suspiciously similar to “Fix You”.

I liked the first album, thought the second was OK, but I don’t have high hopes for the third.

  5. I can’t stand Coldplay. Usually, that is. But there’s just something so captivating about this song that it almost makes me want to take back every horrible thing I’ve ever said about bland, emo music. Almost.
