Nobody likes a snitch
CNA reports:
Since last November, six people have received S$20,000 in rewards from the Business Software Alliance (BSA)… BSA says the six have done the responsible thing, adding that in many instances, those in managerial positions knowingly contravene the copyright laws for short-term financial gain.
Yes, I’m sure that the “bribe” offered is not the main reason for employees to nark on their employers. I’m also sure that the fact that there are many unemployed people desperate for cash is not a factor as well.
I’m pretty certain one major cost of running a business is software licensing, and that’s a cost that cannot be avoided (unless you use open source!). So if businesses want to cut costs, what do they do? Retrench!
Let us thank the BSA for our unemployment problems!
