ZOMG! PKMS are teh moronz 2!

ok, so I found another piece of bullshit that I can’t pass up posting, despite the fact that I’ve had less than 6 hours sleep in the past 3 days (3 law papers 3 days in a row is not funny).

From Bernama:

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 14 (Bernama) — A Malay opposition political party in Singapore, Tuesday expressed support for the statement by Umno Youth chief Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein that there is no racial discrimination in Malaysia.

The Pergerakan Pemuda Pertubuhan Kebangsaan Melayu Singapura (PKMS) said it agreed with Hishammuddin that discrimination did not occur in Malaysia, adding that it occurred in Singapore.

O RLY?

Either PKMS are bare-faced liars, or they live in an alternate dimension where Singapore are rulez0rx by 1337 alien monkey overlords wielding mind control powers and look like Chinese.

The fact is, of course there is racial discrimination in BOTH Singapore AND Malaysia. The difference between Singapore and Malaysia, is that in Singapore, racial discrimination is a phenomenon that occurs mostly in segments of the population that are the Singaporean equivalent of redneck trailer trash, while in Malaysia, racial discrimination is actively propagated by the state, and institutionalised in the form of the NEP.

This dude here (who looks like he’s malay, but I could be wrong since the photo is small) has got his own opinion:

On this issue of S’pore Malays not having it as good as M’sian Malays, I once asked a successful banker-S’pore Malay friend why he didn’t want to move to M’sia and be recognized as a ‘bumi’, and become even more successful there (he is married to a M’sian). He said that being a Malay in S’pore, all the success he got was hard-earned as no one handed him anything on a silver platter. He said that he would no doubt be more successful in M’sia, but then he commented that he would have no pride in his M’sian-success as he wouldn’t have to worked as hard for it as if he was in S’pore.

Mate, you should be happy that at least LKY steered Singaporean politics away from being race-based ala Malaysia. In the process, race-centric parties like PKMS have never taken off there. In Malaysia, it’s the sad opposite. Our multiracial parties are in a constant struggle to survive in a country where it’s people have been conditioned to vote for parties representing only their communal interests without giving a toss about concepts like a ‘Malaysian Malaysia’ anymore. Add a mono-religious party as well and you have a political shithouse there.
