Hi Shianux,

I am writing this to applaud you for standing up for my rights in my own country.

I am a gay man who had lived in Singapore all my live. Having grown up here as a gay person, i had always lived in fear. Fear of repercussions from the authorities about my sexual preference which is something i had finally come to accept. The fact that on whom i find sexually attractive to me, is not something i chose. If i had the choice, would i not want to procreate and make my parents happy?

In my years of growing up, much stories has circulated where people had been harrassed by the authorities, been searched, been taunted, been caught for being gay. It is very painful to live in fear daily. From such, fear had evolve within me that made me hate what i am. I used to hate myself, constantly asking why i cannot be 'normal' like anybody else.

Supressing all these has been really difficult and stress inducing. But i cannot change what i am. This is what its had been like for me all these years. Even now, being attached to my boyfriend, i cannot stop wondering what would happen to us in the future.

Yes, 377A would not be enforce, so say the government. But would it be abuse? No one knows. If it had not been, would stories above like that be circulated?

Majority writes about promotion of the gay lifestyle and degrading of family values. I have know idea what is a gay lifestyle. I am leading my life as any normal singaporean does. We do go clubbing once in awhile, we do watch movies, we do have dinner and celebrate our birthdays. What is so gay about my lifestyle? The fact that i have a boyfriend.

And family values? How many gay friends of mine had been thrown out of the family for being gay? How many lead a double life with a wife and family yet has gay relationships outside? These are not family values and this is what is going on now.

Being a brought up here, it would be painful to leave behind all the friends and memories behind. But eventually, that is what i would do to escape this 'social prison'. To lead a life free of fear with my life partner.

Because i believe, being gay does not make me a lesser human than others. And whom are we to judge others, let god be the one.

But i am really hearten to know someone cares for equality amongst us. It is great for a heterosexual to champion the cause and i thank you from the deepest of my heart and may god bless you always.

the joke is this: it wasn't because of screwing wrong holes the first man and woman were thrown out of paradise. it was because they embraced...hegemony powers that they were thrown out.

instead of being the salt of the earth, they lust to be the gold dust of the earth.

the result? you raise your children in hypocrisy in the footsteps of hypocrites.
