I have been a supporter of Creative Commons for a long time, and I have always wondered if Singapore would get a localised version of a CC license. Due to the time and resources required to “port” a CC license to a local jurisdiction, most international CC licenses have been ported through the support of some university or institution.

Recently I discovered that the Centre for Asia Pacific Technology Law & Policy( CAPTEL) at Nanyang Technological University have actually been working on a Singapore version of the CC license. This is great and heartening news to me, and I’m really proud that Profs Samtani and Chieliotis were willing to put in their time and energy for this non-profitable and yet socially beneficial endeavour.
