Straits Times boo boo is a ‘bed and switch’

Some questions comes to mind.

Does this interpretation of law extend to buy-and-sell forums?

That is to say, if I am selling/advertising my used PC parts, I can misprice them (intentionally or otherwise)?

I am not a lawyer, but why does this rule apply to online prices but not in real life retail prices?

Can a shopkeeper mislabel his wares?

This is ridiculous

Merv:

Firstly, I’m not a lawyer either… not yet anyway :) So please, my thoughts expressed here are not to be considered expert legal advice. I’m still a poor struggling student.

Secondly, journalists are notoriously bad at reading cases and understanding the law, so I wouldn’t come to any quick and fast decisions about the ruling until I’ve got my hands on a primary source copy of the court’s decision. And neither should you worry too much either. At least until you read the original source too.

Unfortunately, I can’t get my hands on a copy. Read my next post to find out why.
