Alfred Deakin Innovation Lectures: The Creative Commons
Update:
Kim Weatherall has her perspective on the lecture. (Kim’s a lecturer at my school.)

I went to a public lecture today, when I really should’ve been at home trying to complete a Property Law assignment due tomorrow (statutory interpretation of the Native Title Act…gah).
Oh the irony!
While Singaporean bloggers wonder when will the Men-In-White start clamping down on ‘undesirable’ blogs, it seems that Australian bloggers may soon face some kind of legal control[The Age, registration required].
Bloggers and spammers could be forced to put their names to political commentary in a bid to close a loophole in the nation’s electoral laws.
Roused by last year’s furore over anonymous political websites such as www.johnhowardlies.com, the Howard Government plans to clamp down on web publishers who refuse to identify a person who authorises their content.
Special Minister of State Eric Abetz told The Age that the move would ensure internet publishers were bound by the same rules as television, radio and print.
Phwoar… ‘Special Minister’ leh… dun play play siah… lest those who think the speech is freer in Australia, maybe this might give you some pause to think again.
In the meantime, the MIW are still playing it cool, watching us… watching us…

Chinese New Year away from home
It’s not a pleasant feeling to miss one’s family this much. I spent Chinese New Year studying. No, its not that I’m super hardworking, its that I missed 2 lectures in a row and therefore need to catch up. Yup. Sad.
Apparently there was some celebration thingy going on at Chinatown, but I finished by the time I got down there. Yup. Sad.
Apparently pictures of hot babes at my school are more in demand than my commentary on Singapore politics and law. Not that I mind, I mean, I’m more interested in babe-watching than reading my own writings, so yeah, I totally understand. Apart from that, Mr Brown says want more Lisa, and if Mr Brown says so, you better listen. But cannot always have Lisa lah, maybe a few more of her, and then next time somebody else.
