B for Betrayal
Remember remember, the 5th of November,
the words of Alan Moore twisted forever…
It is obvious that I am not impressed with the movie’s interpretation of Alan Moore’s graphic novel. The scriptwriters have tried to recast the story into one of “vengeful psycho versus Christian fundamentalists”, and in doing so completely perverted the central idea of the story. Ideas may be bulletproof, but they sure can’t withstand stupidity and crappy scriptwriting.
The most preposterous part of the script was when the script cast Evey’s boss, Gordon, as gay, and then having him secretly possess a Koran, which was banned as Christianity had become the official state religion. His reason was that “he finds the pictures beautiful”.
Now, I don’t know if I’m reading this correctly, but I got the distinct feeling that whoever wrote the script wanted to portray the white Christians as the big bad guys, while everyone else, including gays, people of colour, and Muslims as the poor downtrodden victims. Give me a break.
Left-wing multiculturalists should take a good hard look at what Muslim countries are doing to homosexuals and then try to explain to the LGBT community where their loyalties truly lie. These left-wing morons make all that sound and fury about how Christian conservatives are not allowing them to get married, when in Islamic societies, the mere fact that one is gay can mean the loss of one’s life. A sense of perspective please?
I’ve always maintained that if one were homosexual, one cannot be left-wing, simply because lefties are all too ready to subjugate individual rights to the “greater good”, whatever the hell that means. The problem with the “greater good” is that it is defined by the majority, and what happens when the majority are homophobes? It’s about time LGBTs see the value and virtues of libertarianism.
Bryan Caplan, Associate Professor of Economics at George Mason University, who is also an atheist and an anarchist, is unhappy that they cut the best scene from the movie.
I have to agree.

Colin’s Free Culture show at Lasalle College of the Arts
I watched Colin’s first show at INSEAD in early February, and it was brilliant. The only thing I was somewhat disappointed about was that the audience primarily consisted of Colin’s friends and INSEAD students. Given that most of them are international students, I felt that message of the show did not go out to those who need it the most: Singaporeans.
I made this observation to Colin after the show, and he suggested that we should do a show where there would be more Singaporeans. After much running around, emailing, asking for help and all that, the result is a show at Lasalle College of the Arts [directions here], tomorrow, Wednesday, 22nd of March, at 6.00pm.
If there are any musicians, artists, authors out there reading this (quite unlikely), or if any of you know any musicians, artists and authors, please do let them know of this show. It would be an invaluable experience for anyone who wishes to exercise their creative muscle.
I will follow up this post with a business model for musicians, remix artists and multimedia artists to leverage Creative Commons licenses to generate publicity, recognition and revenue for their work.
